Outpatient Services (Temp Assignment) Assignment Length: 3-4 Months
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Location: Hybrid (1 day
in office after training) Position Overview The Authorization
Specialist is responsible for obtaining, verifying, and documenting
insurance authorizations for outpatient radiology services,
advanced specialty medications, and infusion therapy. This role
ensures timely approvals, accurate payer communication, and
seamless coordination of patient care to prevent delays and support
proper reimbursement. Key Responsibilities Obtain prior
authorizations for outpatient imaging services, including MRI, CT,
ultrasound, X-ray, and PET scans Secure insurance approvals for
advanced medications such as biologics, specialty drugs,
injections, and high-cost therapies Process and track
authorizations for infusion services, including oncology,
rheumatology, and chronic disease treatments Review clinical
documentation, physician orders, and medical necessity requirements
prior to submission Communicate with insurance providers to clarify
coverage policies, resolve denials, and initiate peer-to-peer
reviews as needed Maintain accurate documentation of authorization
status, payer requirements, and communications in the EMR and
scheduling systems Collaborate with physicians, nurses,
pharmacists, and scheduling teams to ensure patients are cleared
before appointments Provide timely updates to clinical staff
regarding approvals, delays, or additional documentation needs
Verify insurance benefits, coverage limits, deductibles, and
out-of-pocket responsibilities Follow up on pending authorizations
to prevent treatment delays Assist with resolving billing issues
related to authorization errors, denials, or coverage discrepancies
Stay current on payer policies, workflows, and insurance changes
Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA and organizational compliance
standards Required Skills Prior radiology authorization experience
(required) Epic EMR experience (strongly preferred) For California
