Content Coordinator/Editor, Communications and Marketing The Communications and Marketing team is a creative, collaborative group that serves every department and school of Manhattanville College. The person in this position will be a creative professional who can multitask in a fast-paced environment. The content creator must be able to work well independently and as part of a team, have a keen eye for detail and the ability to thrive under pressure. Ensures all materials meet established brand, style, and content standards.The Content Creator/Editor works closely with the Digital Content Creator, Creative Director, and the Marketing Coordinator on digital content production for web and social media channels. Reporting to the Digital Content Creator, the Content Creator/Editor edits and captures video footage by using various types of camera/video equipment; creates graphics, including motion graphics; and gathers materials, such as stock footage, images and music, to produce video content that serves various college promotional needs. This is done to showcase and reinforce the college brand to external and internal audiences. Content Creator Core Job Responsibilities Develop original content to promote Manhattanville College, including but not limited to videos, web, and social media content (visual and written), utilizing a mix of traditional and new media storytelling elements. Work closely and efficiently with digital and social staff members to ensure content is completed in a timely manner, is on brand, contains accurate information and supports intended initiatives. Help conceptualize, script, storyboard, pre-produce and edit digital video projects in support of departmental and college-wide objectives. Work closely with the Digital Content Creator, following directives and specifications for selecting, arranging, and combining recorded footage for use in video content. Identify current digital trends as they relate to video content strategy. Use motion graphics software to create graphics to enhance video content production. Help project manage web content strategy and updates. Update website as needed.o Execute text and visual content updates, utilizing web content management system (CMS).o Assess and revise supplied content for brand alignment, clear and concise messaging, and web usability.o Proofread web content for layout, grammar, and spelling.o Tag and curate visual media for web galleries and carousels.o Use web governance tools to monitor for content quality and accessibility issues and help in tracking and remediation; Frequently review site for content accuracy and opportunities for new content and features.o Help analyze content, performance, user behavior and traffic patterns provided by web analytics tools.o Approve web content drafted by other content managers. Contribute to long-term planning for content calendar of cross-channel topic coverage. Generate story ideas based on activities, specialties, and academic research at the College. Cover events and meetings as a campus reporter, taking video and summarizing with written content for web and social. Serve as a liaison between the department and faculty, staff, students, and printers as appropriate. May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, and interns. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Required Experience and Skills: Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Web Design, Media, Journalism, Communications, or related field from a four-year college or university and 2-3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with web content management systems to update web pages. Strong video editing skills and experience a plus using Adobe Premiere and Avid Media Composer; motion graphics experience using Adobe After Effects. Graphic design experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe InDesign highly desirable; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Mac OS, Windows, PC desktop systems and Adobe Creative Suite. Must be computer proficient with knowledge of a variety of software programs. Knowledge of: professional video production procedures, practices, and techniques; various video formats; video editing techniques and practices; still and motion graphics; digital and DSLR cameras. Knowledge of non-linear edit systems and sound generating software. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and administrative skills. Ability to work with and relate to a culturally diverse student body and staff. Ability to work effectively with different levels of staff within the organization. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Strong writing, editing, interviewing and copyediting skills a plus; Critical reading and thinking skills. Ability to evaluate and edit the content and format of a range of written materials; Proficiency in Chicago Manual of Style and AP Style a plus. Solid understanding of online user behavior and digital best practices; Understanding of SEO best practices a plus. Ability to create web and social media content across multiple platforms. Familiarity with current accessibility and usability standards. Required Attributes: Effective and clear communicator, comfortable managing client relationships and collaborating with team members. Motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and comfortable in a dynamic work environment. Detail-oriented and quality-driven, interested in putting forward the highest quality digital content to best represent the College. Focused on meeting deadlines, well organized, adept at juggling multiple priorities to meet deliverable dates. Required Experience: Coordinating and producing a wide range of web and social media content on brand and on tight deadlines, Video filming, editing and production. Supervision: May supervise interns and student workers. Reports to: Digital Content Creator.
