Maintenance Worker Do you enjoy being part of a community and
knowing your work is helping make a difference? Then come to
beautiful Fire Island Pines, a magical, friendly, prominently LGBTQ
community. We are located on a beautiful barrier beach of Fire
Island, where travel to work is by ferry and your commute is worry
free as you enjoy the tranquil ride across the Great South Bay to
Fire Island Pines, where we have a reputation for diversity and are
welcoming of all. Fire Island Pines is the largest residential
community on Fire Island and includes some 600 homes and 100
co-ops. Our community has a population as high as 5,000 in the
summer and about 50 in the winter. Residents, renters and guests
all come here to enjoy, relax, and have fun. With 400 members,
FIPPOA (Fire Island Pines Property Owners Association), a 501
(c)(4) non-profit organization is led by elected officers and its
board of directors who oversee the operations of the community and
help protect the fragile ecosystem of a barrier island. Our other
organization, The Pines Foundation (TPF), is a non-profit 501 (3)
charity organization which raises critical funds for our local
Pines programs and projects that make our community thrive.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School diploma or higher Maintenance,
handyman, landscaping experience a plus SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and
ABILITIES Self-motivated Excellent communication skills Handyman
skills Customer service oriented Works well in a team or
independently Computer proficient Reliable Ability to handle
multiple projects simultaneously Strong attention to detail An
upbeat can do attitude Must be able to work weekends and some
holidays JOB RESPONSIBILITIES General facilities and grounds
maintenance including but not limited to cleanup, landscaping,
pickup/delivery of packages, organizing, painting, moving
equipment, put out garbage, power washing, setup/breakdown of
tables and chairs, snow removal, handyman tasks Maintain dog waste
dispensers throughout community Setup and breakdown of events
(folding tables and chairs) Maintain vehicles (change tires, wash,
change oil, check battery, etc) Walk through and inspect Community
Center at start and end of each workday and ensure all doors are
locked at end of day Ability to take direction in various areas of
maintenance, repair and groundskeeping Ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with leadership and other
team members Ability to respond swiftly to emergency situations
Must be okay with working both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
Readiness to operate or assist with the operation of ATVs, tools
and light equipment Other miscellaneous duties as needed. Work
duties can change depending on needs of the organization Benefits
