We are looking for a Principal Platform Engineer to establish the Micro Merchant Systems' platform and site reliability engineering team. This individual will report directly to the CTO and will be responsible for establishing the platform strategy and architecture for our forthcoming SaaS offerings. As the founding member of this team, you'll have a ton of influence and visibility, and you'll be building a lot from scratch! You'll need to be accustomed to operating with a high level of autonomy and accountability with the ability to seek out information and build relationships across a highly distributed, global organization. While this is a contributor role, you'll need to be comfortable leading by influence and building consensus across teams. As the team grows, you'll also have the option to consider a leadership track if that interests you. What You Will Do Establish and execute the cloud infrastructure strategy for our SaaS product lines - inclusive of the core platform itself along with ancillary functions like clickstream data analytics Partner with financial analysts and product managers to develop an infrastructure cost model that factors in the use of reservations and other cost control mechanisms Partner with product management to ensure that our infrastructure strategy speaks to non-functional requirements around performance, scale, and availability Partner with software engineering teams to optimize the SDLC through CI/CD Build consensus with existing engineering teams around cloud native patterns and adoption of managed services Introduce CI/CD from scratch, including a selection of toolkit, implementation, and building a strategy for implementation with the existing development team Establish infrastructure as code practice with a focus on regulatory compliance with HIPAA Develop and execute an automated release strategy that optimizes for frequent releases and a controlled blast radius Partner with internal compliance teams in the development of controls in support of SOC 2 and HITRUST What You Will Likely Need Experience architecting scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure in the public cloud (Azure, GCP, or AWS) and understanding the nuances of cross-region and cross-AZ designs Ability to think about system edge cases, failure domains, and modes, while balancing each pragmatically from a risk management perspective Experience introducing CI/CD into an organization and bringing the rest of the team along as your partners Familiarity with infrastructure as code and experience automating infrastructure deployment through CI/CD using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef Enjoy working as part of a team and have a bias for transparency and sharing of information Customer-obsessed and enjoy using customer feedback for continuous improvement Not afraid to say "I don't know" and enjoy getting outside of your comfort zone to learn something new Understanding the metrics that matter in the platforms you build and experience making them measurable, visible, and actionable What Will Really Make You Stand Out A background in healthcare SaaS technologies and/or an understanding of regulatory requirements under HIPAA and PCI Experience participating in SOC 2 and HITRUST audits Experience designing secure infrastructure solutions capable of storing and processing PHI In-depth understanding of Microsoft Azure and experience partnering with Azure product teams on pre-release service development Experience developing SLAs and SLOs and corresponding monitoring and observability solutions to measure adherence About Us Micro Merchant Systems (MMS) is a market leader in the pharmacy software industry, with pharmacy management systems installed throughout the U.S. and beyond.
