Job Description:
Position Summary
We are seeking an innovative and student centered leader who will act as the primary liaison to all campus -wide financial enrollment initiatives. Under the supervision of the Director of Student Financial Services, the Associate Director is responsible for providing superior customer service to our students and consistent improvement of the day-to-day operations within the Office of Student Financial Services. The Associate Director will provide guidance, counseling and training to a team of student accounts counselors. The Associate Director is also expected to embark on a mission of process and policy improvement that includes working closely with the Financial Aid Office to create a strong, cohesive and student centered Financial Services unit. The incumbent must possess the ability to implement a comprehensive system for accurate and timely records processing, strategic management initiatives and reporting.
Position Duties

  • Perform the billing, collection, deposit, disbursement and record maintenance of tuition and fees and other College and student related funds
  • Participate in the maintenance of accurate financial records and reconciliation of the Student Account's Office records with those of the Accounting Office to ensure complete agreement of billing, receipts, disbursements and outstanding receivable records.
  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance and program enhancement of the automated Student Information System. Duties include but are not limited to: processing/supervising data input, resolving input errors, building system tables, purging files, testing and implementing new system releases, determining needed adjustments to the system, monitoring feeds to other automated computerized systems.
  • Build, test, and maintain Refund Table (and associated forms and tables) for use with Banner and Touchnet systems for all sessions each semester based on appropriate beginning and ending dates and current college refunding policies. Reconciliation and daily execution of the refund process and ACH payments.
  • Ensures compliance with collection procedures required by the Office of Attorney General on a timely basis, including but not limited to creating and monitoring A/R aging reports and sending collection letters
  • Process withdrawal calculations for all students who receive financial aid.
  • Produce 1098-T federal tax documents for qualified students.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of reporting, policies and procedures that directly affect student accounts receivables.
  • Provides direct oversight and leadership to Student Accounts staff
  • Researches and implements industry best practices as applicable to the institution.
  • Participates in the on-going review of technology enhancements and software upgrades.
  • Participates in the hiring, training and cross-training processes on an on-going basis.
  • Ensures compliance with SUNY, State and Federal regulations.
  • Provides counseling and advice to students and their families to help them obtain and optimize all financial resources available.
  • Collaborates with Financial Aid to develop financial literacy presentations and communications that will effectively aid students in planning their financial future post-graduation.
  • Attends Open Houses and other campus-wide events to answer questions and make presentations as deemed appropriate.
    Position Qualifications

    • A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum three (3) years of responsible administrative experience in a higher education environment required
    • Demonstrated experience or exposure in the area of Student Financial Services
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Advanced knowledge of Excel (ability to use spreadsheets, graphing tables, calculations and automation efficiently to process large quantities of data relevant to business task)
    • Dedicated commitment to Customer Service
    • Strong leadership and supervisory abilities

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Bachelor in Business, Accounting or Finance related fields
      • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations pertaining to student accounts activities
      • Experience with Ellucian Banner SIS

        Additional Information:
        Classification/Salary Range: The Associate Director of Student Accounts is a UUP position. The anticipated salary range for the position is $75,000 - $85,000 annually, with an outstanding benefits package (for more information please see the ). Salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications. Review of applications to commence immediately and conclude when the position is filled.
        Special Notes: This is a full-time calendar year appointment UUP Position. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
