Job Description:
The AAP is looking for a dynamic Medical Director to enhance the
programs track record of excellence and national leadership in
comprehensive medical and psychosocial care for youth living with
or at risk for HIV and LGBTQ youth and youth of color. This
position requires the ability to set youth-focused clinical
standards for all services to provide excellent medical care that
integrates research into clinical practice, contribute to outreach,
professional training and public health initiatives focused on
improving the health outcomes of youth living with HIV, LGBTQ youth
and youth of color. Candidate must have a strong balance of skills
including, but not limited to; clinical experience in HIV treatment
and prevention LGBTQ health, especially care for transgender youth;
track record of success leading a multidisciplinary staff; academic
productivity; and high level administrative skills such as managing
program/grant deliverables and CQI initiatives, grant writing and
reporting, and budget management. Proven ability to effectively
communicate with providers, community organizations, diverse youth
and family populations is also required. RESPONSIBILITIES:? Direct
all medical and psychosocial services and clinical staff ?
Coordinate clinical services with all other AAP programs including
research, outreach, and training ? Participate in programmatic
grant writing, reporting, and strategic planning ? Develop and
deliver provider trainings on HIV and LGBTQ health ? Help expand
community-based services and public health initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS:? Medical Degree and active New York State Medical
License ? Training experience in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine or
Family Practice, and experience working clinically with adolescents
and young adults ? At least 5 years current experience in HIV care
and prevention, and at least 2 years current experience in
transgender care ? Advanced training in Infectious Disease or
Adolescent Medicine a plus ? Eligible for academic appointment
About Us: The Adolescent AIDS Program (AAP) is affiliated with the
Childrens Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New
York, and holds the distinction of being the nations first
adolescent-focused HIV/AIDS center for clinical care, supportive,
and preventive services. A model multidisciplinary program, the AAP
maintains an ethos of caring, learning and teaching. In every
aspect of our work with patients, health care systems and
communities, we strive to maximize the health of all young people
infected and affected by HIV as well as LGBTQ youth, and to inspire
them to reach their full potential. The AAP is fully grant funded
and is staffed by a dynamic interdisciplinary team including
physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, and case
managers. The program is also staffed by public health specialists
in the fields of research, training, outreach and communications.
