Job Description



CBRE is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in carbon and/or energy modeling with experience in data analysis to support the Worldwide Real Estate Sustainability team. This individual will be responsible for the successful implementation of workstreams that model the carbon performance of prototype building designs, and scale modeling at the site-specific project level across the network. The successful candidate will manage data workflows and visualization platforms that enable generation of carbon profiles and, tracking and reporting of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) reduction initiatives across global Operations facilities.

The role requires experience in software development and data science (analysis & visualization) and will work with various internal and external stakeholders to develop in-house modeling and tracking capabilities. The right candidate will demonstrate cultural awareness and a track record of successes in managing programs and projects in an ambiguous environment. A strong bias for action will be necessary for successful alignment in this role.

The role will be based in North America, and will need to work in EST time zone, and will have frequent calls within eastern, and central European time zones. This position will not include any travel. If based in New York, the candidate is expected to work from an office in the Manhattan area at least 40% of the time (2 days/ week). Complete remote candidates will be considered based on merit.

Responsibilities

  • Support in conceptualizing, developing and maintaining the carbon analytics platform.
  • Assist in managing the carbon models and data generated by partner teams within Amazon and external vendors, including communication with both SMEs and non-technical audiences.
  • Create simple carbon models and perform carbon reduction calculations to be used by other team members and stakeholders.
  • Maintain and support in updating the carbon modeling protocols
  • Support in expanding the carbon modeling program to more regions and building types
  • Support in carbon analytics program development including but not limited to researching and comparing various NZC strategies and their impact on buildings, new technologies to support reduction in carbon footprint of the buildings, better ways to model carbon and cost impact of the strategies etc.

    Qualifications

    Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

    Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant area of study such as data science, architecture, architectural engineering, sustainability, construction management, or related field
      • Minimum 5 years of related experience and/or training specific to sustainability and 3+ years of experience in sustainability analytics development and use of BIM 360 or Revit models
        --- Demonstrated experience in building performance modeling (energy, daylight, embodied carbon, etc.),
        • Experience in web and software/tool development using Python, HTML, Java etc.
        • Experience in data visualization platforms across web and mobile (e.g. QuickSight, Tableau, PowerBI)
          • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
          • Experience developing and implementing processes to streamline operations, and driving automation, machine learning and standardization

            Preferred Qualifications

            --- Master's degree in a technical area of study related to architecture, architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, construction management, or related field
            • Expertise and proficiency with parametric simulation tools and BIM software related to integrated architectural design and sustainability evaluation
            • Expertise in advanced building energy and LCA modeling
              • Real Estate, Construction or Facilities Management experience (Preferred)
              • Professional project management certification (e.g. PMP)
              • Fulfillment/Distribution/Industrial Building design, planning, execution experience
              • Strong ability to work independently in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, identify and solve novel problems, and manage change
                Certifications and/or Licenses

                • Architectural Registration, Professional Engineer Registration, CEM and/or other building professional accreditation preferred
                • LEED AP BD+C, LFA, and/or PHIUS+ certification

                  CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the position is $100 ,000 annually [or $48.07 per hour] and the maximum salary for the position is $125,000 annually [or $60.10 per hour]. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program.
