Responsibilities:
The Generalist Psychologist is responsible for providing
psychological services on the Adult comprehensive Service
department. Duties include thorough psychiatric assessments and
intakes including detailed psychiatric history, suicide/risk
assessments to determine treatment recommendations and potential
appropriateness for ongoing outpatient therapy in the ACS clinic.
Responsible for completing required forms, chart work, online
assessments in line with ambulatory care policies. Responsible for
ongoing psychotherapy and crisis intervention as needed. Will be
working closely with a multidisciplinary team made up of nurses,
social workers, PAs, MDs and Psychiatrists. Will be reporting to
Medical Director of the ACS, Head of Psychology Department. Will
also be involved in training for the Psychology Internship and
Externship Training Programs and providing education as needed.
-TASKS & RESPONSIBILITES:Provide the primary therapy. Primary care
involves full clinical responsibility for evaluation, treatment,
coordination of medical, milieu, and dispositional needs and
appropriate documentation.Lead and supervise group therapy,
coordinate community meetings, and contribute to establishing
milieu therapy. Supervise psychology interns and externs on
rotation on the Unit in the provision of primary therapy, group and
family therapy, and disposition planning and as assigned by the
Director of Psychology or Designate Provide individual and family
therapies and case management. Provide and supervise psychological
testing of patients on the Unit. Participates in the quality
assurance program on the Unit, implement and document quality
improvement. Design and implement behavioral intervention programs
for patient management. Present clinical information to
multidisciplinary team regarding patient progress.Complete all
required forms and paperwork to process admission
successfully.Provide other documentation as assigned, ensuring that
all documents are completed in a timely fashion. Participates in
psychology staff meetings and Internship and Externship training
programs. Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings as
necessary.Keeps abreast of current psychological theory, treatment
and testing approaches designed to maintain and/or increase
population specific therapeutic and diagnostic assessment skills
through attendance at workshops, conferences and seminars.Other
responsibilities as assigned by the Unit Chief, Site Director of
Psychology or Designate, including coverage on other services when
needed as assigned by the Department Chair or Site Director of
Psychology.Complete annual trainings in Preventing and Management
of Crisis Situations (PMCS) and Self Restraint and Ligature Risk. -

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION: -Completion of two years of graduate
work consisting of at least 60 graduate credits (semester hours) in
psychology, in an accredited graduate program leading to a doctoral
degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, health
psychology, or neuropsychology, plus two years of satisfactory
full-time experience in one of the above-named areas under the
supervision of a qualified psychologist or psychiatrists in a
hospital, plus two years of satisfactory full-time experience in
one of the above-named areas under the supervision of a qualified
psychologist or psychiatrists in a hospital.Completion of
APA-approved internship in professional psychology will be deemed
evidence of meeting all supervised experience requirements,
including the two years of full-time experience.It is expected that
all staff members who have obtained a doctoral degree in psychology
and who have direct patient contact for clinical purposes will
obtain a State license as soon as they are eligible.Must have
Limited Permit or License on file to provide services at North
Central Bronx Hospital.Must have training In Columbia Suicide
Assessments and Self-Test for Ligature and Restraint.Benefits
