The Montefiore-Einstein Transplant Center (METC) in New York City is seeking an outstanding Abdominal Transplant Surgeon to join their comprehensive practice, with a focus on liver transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery, possibly in a leadership role as Surgical Director of Liver Transplant. The candidate will support a busy Abdominal Transplant Program (about 250 abdominal transplants in 2021) in collaboration with outstanding medical faculty of 6 Abdominal Surgeons, 6 Transplant Nephrologists, 7 Hepatologists, Oncologists, and Pediatricians. We provide an academic environment dedicated to teaching Residents and Fellows with a focused on providing exceptional care to patients with critical illnesses and developing cutting edge treatments. Montefiore Medical Center is the university hospital of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Montefiore Health System includes multiple hospitals and clinics in the NY including flagship programs in solid organ transplant (heart, lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas), a nationally recognized Children's Hospital, an ASTS fellowship program, ACGME training programs in Transplant Nephrology and Hepatology, and an NIH funded liver research center and cancer center. The transplant center is one of the largest in NY with outstanding outcomes. The liver program performs pediatric, split, DCD, and live donor liver transplants, as well as hepatobiliary surgery. The Pancreas Transplant program was the largest by volume in NY for the past several years, and most recently #2 in the U.S. for volume. Research opportunities exist for those interested in building an academic career leading to NIH funded research. Appointment as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor rank at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is commensurate with experience, training, academic portfolio, and teaching activities. The program will consider junior, mid-level, or senior candidates that are interested in growing their career in liver or kidney-pancreas. Applicants must have completed an ASTS accredited fellowship or equivalent, and be eligible to practice medicine in the State ofNew York. 2+ years of post fellowship experience at the attending level is preferred.
