specialties. Responsibilities: Position Summary:
To expedite patients throughout Cardiovascular Nuclear Medicine in
a timely fashion.Inpatient management and emergency department
facilitator.
Obtain patient histories; perform appropriate health assessments as
pertains to the exam; assess previous diagnostic testing results;
conduct, assess and evaluate cardiac stress testing; occasional
interventional procedures necessitated by the monitoring and care
of acutely ill patients while patients are in Nuclear Medicine
domain.
Liaison between department staff and referral sources, including
inpatient units.
These functions and responsibilities will be conducted under the
Supervising Nuclear Medicine Physician.
Functions/Responsibilities
Assist in assuring that inpatient Cardiovascular Nuclear Medicine
studies are performed in a timely and safe manner.
Review history, lab results, etc. to assure preparation and
qualification for nuclear medicine examinations.
Conduct Cardiovascular Nuclear Medicine Stress testing competently
and efficiently.
Document pre/post procedure orders as needed.
Respond to patient emergencies, with appropriate measures
documented, and notifications to Nuclear Medicine, Cardiology and
patient care providers.
Keep the Supervising Physician informed as to the needs, problem
areas and suggestions which may improve the service.
Competencies
Knowledge of EKG interpretation, recognition of gross abnormalities
and to take appropriate actions, including providing ACLS level of
care.
Knowledge of Cardiovascular Nuclear Medicine exams for appropriate
diagnosis.Pharmacological knowledge, with ability to formulate
medications and to adjust dosing appropriate to age, weight and
relevant lab results (e.g. renal and/or hepatic insufficiency,
etc).
Demonstrate knowledge of physiological difference in different age
groups.
Demonstrate self-directed universal precautions (and beyond when
appropriate) to work in a hospital environment with possible
exposure to infectious diseases via airborne, body fluids, needle
punctures, etc.
Demonstrate good communication skills and mannerism in order to
effectively share necessary information with patients and family
members as well as with members of clinical teams.
