Must meet the requirements for the National Registry and pass the
examination Must-Have: - Ability to work independently in emergency
room and trauma patient areas - Experience performing portable
x-ray examinations in various settings Description: The Radiologic
Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic
examinations at a technical level not requiring constant
supervision. Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by
positioning patients and providing immobilization devices while
selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient
needs. Restricts the radiation beam through cone and collimating
devices to prevent non-exposure of radiation to unaffected parts of
the patient. Performs portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms,
operating rooms, and emergency rooms. Follows operational
procedures to identify patient films with name and x-ray number,
correctly marking the film according to the side of the patient
taken. Develops exposed x-ray film using available processing
methods. Completes patient requisitions with technologist initials,
date, number, and size of the film. Maintains an orderly x-ray room
as directed by the head of the department. Prepares radiopaque
contrast media and assists physicians in administering radiopaque
mixtures to patients. Performs administrative duties related to
scheduling appointments, patient instruction, film filing,
maintenance of records, and reception of patients. Renders services
and assists all patients depending on their individual needs and
abilities in moving, turning, and getting on and off the x-ray
tables. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10
lbs., and stands for a minimum of 6 hours a day. Identifies the
needs of the patient population served and modifies care delivery
based on those needs, which may include age, culture, language, and
sensory impairments. This process includes effective communication
with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at their level of
understanding. Adheres to established standards and competencies
