Job Description Role: Certified Medical Coder (Outpatient & ED)
Project Type: Contract Assignment Pay Range: $35–37/hour Work
Arrangement: Remote(Onsite Training only) Location: Bronx, NY
10461, United States Shift Timing: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM (5 Days Working)
Training Requirement: 1–2 weeks onsite training at the start
(flexible based on Hiring Manager) Role transitions to remote once
responsibilities are mastered Project Description: Supported acute
care medical coding operations by performing outpatient and
Emergency Department (ED) coding in compliance with payor, federal
billing, and facility guidelines. Utilized EPIC and 3M/HDS coding
applications to ensure accurate assignment of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and
related coding standards. Contributed to coding accuracy,
compliance, and productivity while working with minimal
supervision. Key Responsibilities: Performed medical coding for
Outpatient and Emergency Department (ED) services in an acute care
setting Assigned accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and related codes based
on documentation and coding guidelines Applied knowledge of
anatomy, physiology, and disease processes to ensure correct code
selection Ensured compliance with payor requirements, federal
billing regulations, and facility coding standards Researched and
resolved coding-related issues and discrepancies Utilized EPIC EMR
and 3M/HDS coding application tools for coding workflow and
documentation review Supported coder training and provided guidance
when needed Maintained accuracy, productivity, and timely coding
turnaround in a fast-paced environment Required Experience: Minimum
three (3) years of coding experience Strong knowledge of ICD-10
coding Must have Outpatient coding experience Must have ED coding
experience (required) EPIC and 3M coding experience required
Ability to work independently with minimal training Preferred
Experience: Ideal candidate with 4 years of outpatient coding
experience Strong inpatient coding background preferred Education:
High School Diploma / GED Certification through AHIMA required
(RHIA / RHIT and/or CCS/CCP) Required Certifications: CCS or CPC
Certification (must be AHIMA, RHIA, or RHIT affiliated/approved)
