Director, Segment Solutions

This role will be a critical role in the segment solutions team and will lead/support a variety of initiatives, interfacing across regions and product functions to ensure our products are embedded into key segment solutions. This person will work in concert with other product teams, attend their leadership meetings as needed, and ensure connectively and governance in working across the product teams. This person will also look at new/emerging segments and understand key growth areas, size them, prioritize them, determine product fits and regional requirements, and lead the organization in realizing potential of new growth areas. Additionally, this role will work with Sales Excellence to modernize our bundling approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keeps current on key segment trends throughout the world by connecting with regions, product teams and corporate development
  • Will deep dive into several segments. As such, creates and communicates a clear segment vision and strategy, based on a thorough understanding of the segment and how Mastercard can best serve that market
  • Creates the end-to-end narrative for the segment
  • Works with Product Management and Product Development to create solutions and prioritize investments to address segment's needs
  • Coordinate development and dissemination of Thought Leadership for the segment
  • Manage the interaction with the rest of Mastercard and identify areas for collaboration
  • Work with Sales to define the GTM for the specific segment
  • Establish and measure KPI's for segment success (including impact to broader MA)
  • Ensure alignment of segment strategy with relevant stakeholders in MA, including country/cluster/regional strategies
  • Partner with Finance and the sales excellence team to bring forward a product penetration index, designed to drive sales around our priority products and bring forward insights where gaps might exist
  • Work to simplify how we go to market with key products, focusing on simplifying contracting as an example.

The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

  • Self-starter who can work independently and can also work across business units and geographies
  • High level of curiosity and ability to understand our different product capabilities across functions
  • Track record of end to end project management
  • Detail oriented and ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously
  • High degree of agility in managing different types of projects and therefore, high learning agility
  • Ideal candidate would have a combination of strong business and technical acumen
  • Strong relationship skills
  • Strategic thinker with a bias toward execution
