Job Description:

The Office of Business Management (OBM) helps the Firm make fact-based decisions around management and strategic direction of the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management organization. OBM works closely with senior management across Firm functions to analyze information, develop recommendations, and communicate policies.

OBM is also responsible for leading strategic work streams including the design and implementation of Financial Advisor and Branch Manager Compensation programs, strategic cost management, client retention policies, Financial Advisor teaming strategies and the management of Financial Advisor and Management information systems.

As a member of the Office of Business Management, the candidate will be responsible for supporting select policies, processes, and platforms within OBM's charter by creating meaningful solutions, effectively communicating those solutions to business stakeholders, and providing comprehensive support and education to target audience.

To be successful in this role, the candidate must be a self-starter capable of solving complex problems, have the ability to multi-task across a variety of projects and processes, be a succinct and accurate communicator, and be attentive to details, while understanding the broader strategy.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the firm strategy in order to integrate core values and goals into analytics, communication, and technology platforms
  • Develop a thorough understanding of how Financial Advisors manage their practice to help identify business opportunities that will drive growth
  • Master and maintain firm policy and platforms in order to assist Financial Advisors and Managers on day-to-day and ad-hoc tasks
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the role that Managers play in order to provide analytics and technology platforms that assist in key business functions
  • Collaborate with business partners to transform business needs into technology requirements that both business and technology understand to develop and improve platforms
  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication and training plans
  • Work effectively in cross-functional teams, having demonstrated strong partnerships with both internal and external business partners
  • Ability to steer large scale projects by establishing scope, identifying owners, monitoring progress against deadlines, and keeping stakeholders informed
  • Perform data analysis and modeling to determine business opportunities to drive business strategy and policy

Desired Skills:

  • Self-starter who possesses excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with strong business judgment; distinctive thought leadership
  • An active listener who is able to succinctly communicate and present ideas
  • Related financial services industry experience preferred
  • Proficient with Word, Excel and Power Point with related programming skills
  • SQL a plus
  • Use of advanced analytics platforms to access and integrate big data a plus
  • Experience with the drafting of technology requirements, testing, and platform delivery
  • Experience with Agile development a plus
  • BA/BS with strong academic record
  • 3 years work-related experience
