professional development through out-of-school-time programs built

OUR VISION: Roads to Success is dedicated to helping young people
discover the self-esteem, self-reliance, and empathy necessary to
become future leaders and driving forces of positive change. We are
led by a passionate community of young educators-a lead-by-example
staff who are dedicated that all of New York City's young people
are given a fair and equitable chance to fulfill their dreams.
PROGRAM DESIGN: RTS facilitates a variety of youth programs
including after-school, summer camps, retreats, conferences and
summer employment opportunities reaching thousands of young people
throughout NYC each year. RTS emphasizes the youth development
practice of the Circle of Courage in all our programs; creating an
environment of Belonging, where young people can build their
Independence, find and develop their Mastery skill, and practice
Generosity in their communities. At the core of our programs are
staff training strategies that enable our young professionals to
develop extraordinarily meaningful relationships with the young
people in their care who we call Our Future Leaders because that is
what they all are.
PRIMARY FUNCTION : A Group Leader works with participants to
develop a positive community culture and ensure our goals are being
acknowledged in our programs. Group Leaders are expected to
cultivate meaningful relationships and be positive role models for
our future leaders.
ORGANIZATIONAL ROLE :
Supervisor: Site Director
Max Hours: 16 per week (2:30 - 5:30pm)
Days: 5 per week, Monday - Friday (10/18/21 - 5/13/22)
Compensation: $16 per hour
Actively engage during activities with participants.
Provide homework assistance during homework time.
Ability to teach and lead RTS Leadership Curriculum.
Supervise during snack time and enforce Zero Impact.
Supervise activities to ensure physical and emotional safety.
Provide hands on assistance when Instructors are leading their
Lead recreational group games and rallies or create lesson plans
for academic activities.
Attend mandatory scheduled meetings and professional development
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by
the Site Director.
GED or High School Diploma. College credits preferred.
At least one year of experience working in school age programs.
At least one year of experience with lesson planning.
Strong skills in communication, punctuality, and teamwork.
