Position Summary :

The Produce Associate is responsible for assisting the Category Merchants with execution the daily goals and the objectives to drive category strategies.

Under the direction of the Category Merchants, the Produce Associate will be responsible for daily purchasing of highly perishable product. This role will communicate cross-functionally to manage the assortment in multiple locations, utilizing and improving internal systems to ensure adequate stock levels and availability. The Produce Associate will execute SKU creation and manage product data, including collection, submission, and follow up interdepartmentally.

We are looking for an individual who pays attention to detail, learns and understands internal processes, and implements that understanding with consistency.

This role requires a pro-active and flexible individual with a professional approach who has experience troubleshooting and improving processes and, when called upon, can learn new roles quickly.

Essential Functions :
Responsible for daily purchasing of highly perishable product
Work with the Merchant team in the execution of optimal category strategy
Ensures assortment availability and assists with any quality, inventory, or system issues in multiple plant locations by maintaining communication will all cross-functional teams
SKU creation project management including data collection, entry, and form submission. Liaison with the involved teams to ensure scheduled launch of new SKUs
Will need to be able to work weekends and / or Holidays and be able to keep a flexible schedule during high volume periods
This role will be flexible and will change as needed to support a dynamic and evolving Category Management strategy at FreshDirect.

Minimum Qualifications :
Minimum 1 years' experience as an Assistant Merchant /Buyer or similar position
1+ Years' experience with Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPS, Pivot Tables, Data Analysis)
Works well in a team and has excellent communication skills
Ability to execute business critical day to day operational tasks
Ability to work in fast paced dynamic team environment
Must be willing to work in a refrigerated environment on a limited basis
Must love food!

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of SAP or WMS platforms a plus
Uses an analytically minded approach to problem solving
Detail-oriented
