Join our team!! Hicks Nurseries Wholesale division is seeking Customer Service Team members! This is a great opportunity to work in the largest garden center on Long Island!Job ObjectiveThe Customer Assistance Team Member will greet and assist customers. Scan customers product selections and check out. Ensure customer selections are appropriately loaded into customer vehicles, carts, and/or assembled for future pick-up. Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the front end, sales floor, and merchandise displays.Process point of sale transactions following documented processes and procedures. Greet all customer traffic entering and exiting the facility and direct them appropriately. Accurately and efficiently scan product for sales and orders. Process transactions using a tablet, handheld device, and at a traditional checkout station.Ensure the security of your cash drawer following documented processes and procedures. Follow all computer/cash register protocols and procedures. Accept payment on account for customer receivables. Process orders, including receiving deposits and releasing orders.Assist the Lead Order Puller as needed. Pull material as needed from pick list following established procedures.Help to maintain merchandise and displays as directed. Monitor inventory levels and quality Straighten and consolidate product displays. Care for live material as required. Assist with maintaining appropriate signage. Put merchandise onto tables and displays. Screen potential new customers for eligibility Assist with entrance and exit gate activities. Inform salespeople of drive-in customers. Inform receiving staff of incoming vehicles.Provide customer/visitor service according to documented processes and procedures. Cheerfully greet all customers. Support the overflow of incoming telephone calls. Assist customers by providing service, answering questions, and directing them. Respond to and research customer inquiries Respond to internal broadcasts for basic information regarding issues such as pricing, authorized purchasers, and location of orders and customers. Participate in product knowledge and other training. Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized workspace. Handle customer inquiries, in person or on the phone Resolve customer issues/concernsPhysical Requirements Near-constant physical activity required, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. consistently and 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to push/pull wheeled carts of 400 lbs. consistently. Fine motor skills requirements include keyboarding, using a computer mouse, using a handheld scanning device, and writing. Ability to safely operate equipment and vehicles such as an electric golf cart.Work Environment Fast-paced. Team focus. Indoor and outdoor activities in all types of weather conditions. Greenhouse location with fans and other cooling devices but without air conditioning; the temperature in warm-weather seasons can be above 90 degrees at times. Environment where noise level varies but can be loud at times. Dusty, dirty, muddy work areas.Job Type: TemporaryPay: $15.75 per hourSchedule: 10 hour shift 4 hour shift 8 hour shift
