Teaching FellowLocation: -Bronx, NY - - - -Mission of the School

ProgramAs a teaching Fellow at NCS, you would be gaining practical
classroom skills in the school while working towards a Master's
degree and teaching certification with our parter school, Relay
GSE. The goal of the Fellows program is that at the end of your
tenure with Relay, you will be ready to step into a lead classroom
teacher role with NCS. -Teaching at Neighborhood Charter

Work with classroom teachers to
develop and execute lesson plans, moving from responsibility of
portions of classroom instruction to full days and weeks of
instruction by the end of a year.Work to learn, implement, and
master NCS's core instructional practices -Curriculum and
Assessment
To learn to implement a variety of
assessments that measure progress towards learning outcomes and
that adhere to the NCS Assessment Framework.To work towards using
assessment data to adapt curriculum and instructional practices to
help students meet the school's performance standards. Such use of
data includes re-teach weeks, spiraling skills, and changing daily
instruction to meet student needs. -School Life
To model, live, and reinforce the
school's core values and policies inside and outside the
classroom.To, if necessary, perform as a co-advisor to a group of
advisees by overseeing their academic and student life. This
responsibility includes taking attendance, holding regular
conferences, meeting with advisee's parents and communicating with
student and parent regularly, leading reading circles, overseeing
digital portfolios, and overseeing advisory competition activities.
-Professional Development
To devote the necessary time and
energy required to master the craft of teaching. To be open to
innovative approaches to teaching, feedback from colleagues and
school administration.To actively participate in the school's
professional development programs including data analysis and
planning, leading and participating in best practice sessions, peer
coaching, and attending conferences. -Physical and Mental Demands:
Requires prolonged standing or
bending and a normal range of hearing and vision. -Requires working
under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
-Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
-Ability to receive and analyze data and input into the
computer.Emotional stability and personal maturity are important
attributes in this position.Must handle novel and diverse work
problems on a daily basis.Must be able to communicate providing
