The Harmony Healthcare Long Island, formerly known as (Long Island Federally Qualified Health Center or LIFQHC) is a non-profit healthcare organization with 7 health centers, providing primary care and preventative medicine in the following locations in Nassau County: Roosevelt, Elmont, Hempstead, Freeport, Oceanside, and New Cassel/Westbury. In addition, the Harmony Healthcare Long Island has 3 school-based health centers, WIC offices (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) in 3 locations, and a Health Home Care Coordination program. As federally qualified health centers, we serve the individuals in our communities, providing enhanced services, expanded hours and reduced prescription pricing, while raising the level of care. JOB TITLE: Maintenance Painter

REPORTS TO: Facility Manager

The following statements reflect the general duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job and should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements of this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be responsible for painting our buildings, both interior and exterior, as well as other maintenance tasks as assigned.

  • Apply paint to surfaces including walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
  • Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, and other finishes.
  • Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
  • Clean walls to ensure proper adherence.
  • Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.
  • Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
  • Erect scaffolding, movable and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas; moves furniture and equipment as necessary.
  • Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.
  • Apply several coats according to paint directions.
  • Tape off areas when needed.
  • Apply touchups or second coats
  • Remove paint splatters when finished.
  • Clean up all equipment, including brushes.
  • Work on ladders to reach high ceilings or walls.
  • Assist with day-to-day facility maintenance & cleaning as directed
  • Assist with general maintenance including light construction duties
  • Various building projects as directed
  • Other duties as assigned
    MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR:
    • Smooth and prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding and removing old paint.
    • Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or other filler.
    • Tape, float, and texture walls and ceilings.
    • Select premixed paints or mix required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint to match specified colors.
    • Paint surfaces, using brushes, paint rollers, and apply paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.
    • Erect scaffolding or set up ladder to perform tasks above ground level.

      QUALIFICATIONS:
      • 3+ years of experience in professional painting
      • 3+ years of experience in Maintenance
      • Painting skills and knowledge of painting tools and equipment
        PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
        • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, stooping, lifting and walking.
        • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
          TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
          • Must have a valid Driver's License
          • Willingness to travel between facilities within Nassau County

            SALARY: Commensurate with experience
